Before you start applying red eye shadow onto your eyes, take the test below to achieve the best result with red eye shadow:
- Cleanse your face, remove all eye makeup
- Analyze the shape of your eye
Regular Eyes or Deep Set Eyes
These eyes have a crease, draw the crease color with the small angular brush or fluff brush with a red liner pencil. Line should reach just above the crease line and cover approximately 1/3 of the outer edge of the eye. Add on the red eye shadow color at the corner of the outer eye and blend it inwards. For a day look, use minimal red eye shadow and for an evening outing, blend the color towards the inner eye and above the crease. Darken the red as much as possible if you like to achieve a dramatic appearance. If you like to just look elegant, you can soften the red eye shadow with a champagne color.
Oriental Eyes
There is no crease for oriental eyes therefore you will need to create one. Draw a line with a small angle brush from the outer edge to the inside of the eye. Open your eye, this line that you just drawn will be slightly visible. It should not disappear into the back of your eye; otherwise this will make the eye look smaller. Red eye shadow is applied with a small fluff brush or you can use a sponge applicator. Some oriental eyes have bulding eye lid. If you have this issue, recommended to use a darker red onto your eyelid and do not soften with a champagne eye shadow. Otherwise, you will look like you have swollen eye.
Using a matte red eye shadow can suppress the strong red and using a glitter red shadow can enhance your eyes.
